LICK THE BLADE Recording Debut Album - March 12, 2008
|
LICK THE BLADE are
currently in Noise Floor Studios in Cleveland, Ohio recording their
self-titled debut album, which is tentatively scheduled for release
later this year on Auburn Records. The Maiden-influenced metal
five-piece from Cleveland have been working with producer Mark Klein
(BREAKER). "We're all really confident that the album is going
to sound great", says guitarist Tom Mowcomber. "And we're quite
excited to finally get to record all of these songs that we have.
It's really been an honor to have been given this opportunity. We
are eternally grateful for that. Heavy Metal is a precious commodity
these days, so its reassuring to know that people out there still
believe in it!".
Guitarist Tom Mowcomber on how the band came up with their unique
name: "Our old guitarist Chuck and I watching the original
'Halloween' movie one night with some friends. We were
partying pretty hard that night and after watching the movie we had
the bright idea of using a butcher knife to stab the hell out of a
watermelon that we had just cut open and filled with booze. At some
point during all of that chaos, a friend of mine took one of his
stabs at the watermelon and licked the guts off after retracting the
blade suggesting that LICK THE BLADE would be a great band name. And
thus, the name was born. The name actually referred to licking
blood, not watermelon, off of a knife... nothing more, nothing less.
Chuck really loved the name too so when we put the band together we
used it. If interpreted properly, I think the name really does a
good job of representing the aggressive, relentless, powerful nature
of heavy metal. Although, the story of its development is
quite ridiculous!"
